Background & aim: Spread of sexually transmitted infections can be controlled with enhancing the knowledge and correcting the attitudes of students regarding the right and consistent use of contraceptive methods, and being in monogamous sexual relationships. This study aimed to compare the students’ knowledge, attitudes, and safe sex practices between nursing and non-nursing undergraduate students. Methods: A descriptive survey design was employed among 240 students at Niger Delta University in Bayelsa State, Nigeria in 2018-2019 The simple random sampling technique was used to select the sample. A questionnaire designed to elicit information on knowledge, attitudes, and safe sex practices from nursing and nonnursing students. Data were analyzed using SPSS, version 17. 0. Descriptive statistic was employed to describe the data. Results: Nursing students in this study presented with safe sexual practices, compared to non-nursing students. Sexual risky behaviors, such as having a casual partner and not using condoms, were prevalent among the non-nursing students. After summing up the scores of nursing students, they showed a better understanding of knowledge of safe sex (83. 1% for nursing students versus 54. 6% for non-nursing students). Similarly, the nurses’ attitudes and practices seemed better than those of non-nurses. Conclusion: Combination of both correct knowledge and positive attitudes correlates with safe sex practices among students. Safe sex education should be introduced to non-nursing students at the Niger Delta University as a means of promoting safe sex practices among students.

Background: Abundant high-risk behaviors in trans-sexual people make it necessary to investigate. Objectives: This study aimed to describe the frequency of high-risk sexual behaviors in sex-reassigned trans-sexual people in Tehran, Iran. Materials and Methods: This study was cross-sectional. Ninety-six sex-reassigned transsexual individuals of both genders presenting to Salamat Bonyan Psychology Clinic were enrolled in the study. The scales included a demographic characteristic form and a researcher-made questionnaire to evaluate high-risk behaviors and sexual health of sex-reassigned transsexual subjects. Results: According to the results, 96 individuals completed hormone therapy, of whom 43 underwent sex-reassignment surgery. Also, 73 persons were female-to-male, and 23 persons were male-to-female. (62. 5% CI: (0. 52-0. 72)) of the participants did not receive hepatitis B, and (95. 83% CI: (0. 92-0. 99)) human papillomavirus vaccination. (87. 09% CI: (0. 68-0. 85)) of the participants did not take an human infection virus (HIV) test and (97. 9% CI: (0. 95-0. 99)) a Pap test. (99% CI: (0. 89-0. 99)) of the participants were never screened for prostate cancer, and (91. 66% CI: (0. 86-0. 97)) for breast cancer. Oral sex was the most common sexual act way (93. 75%), and (72. 91% CI: (0. 68-0. 77)) never used condoms. (30% CI: (0. 20-0. 39)) of the participants smoked hookah and cigarettes and used alcohol. Conclusions: Considering high-risk behaviors and sexually risky behaviors in this group, it is necessary to carry out preventive interventions.

Context: Prostitution is a complex phenomenon defined as the provision of sexual services to receive something (goods or services) which is not sexual. Given the response of different societies and cultures to criminalization, decriminalization, or legalization of prostitution, this study aimed to compare the three aforementioned approaches to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of each view. Evidence Acquisition: This narrative review study summarizes various views on how to control the prostitution phenomenon. To conduct this study, related articles in PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus databases, as well as documents and reports published by Amnesty International, theWorld Health Organization, and the United Nations Office on AIDS, were investigated. There was no time limit for searching the articles and documents. Results: Different communities have their own responses to the prostitution phenomenon, depending on their economic, social, and cultural context. According to the literature reviews, three main approaches, including criminalization, decriminalization, and legalization, are recommended to deal with prostitution. In each of these frameworks, human trafficking and child prostitution are criminalized. Although it seems that partial decriminalization has greater benefits with fewer disadvantages, it is not without defects. Conclusions: Using the moderator rules that are embedded in the laws of each country for expediency might reduce the harmful consequences of the first rules, or measures can be taken by considering specific regulations that exist in the national system of each country.
